Application
This recovery garment is fully interchangeable for either hind leg and has been thoughtfully designed to support dogs recovering from orthopedic procedures such as patella luxation surgery, TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy), cruciate ligament repair, and other related hind limb operations. It also serves as an effective protective layer for dogs experiencing hot spot irritation, minor wounds, or post-surgical sensitivity.
The garment can be worn over a full bandage to help keep dressings clean, dry, and securely in place. During later stages of healing, it may also be used without a bandage to provide gentle coverage and protection of the incision site while still allowing airflow to promote proper healing. Its breathable construction helps reduce moisture buildup while preventing licking, chewing, or scratching that could delay recovery.
How to Apply
Step 1:
Begin by having your pet step into the vest portion of the garment. Carefully guide the front legs through the appropriate openings and position the vest comfortably over the shoulders and upper torso. Ensure the vest lies flat against the body without twisting or bunching. Secure the vest according to the closure design so it fits snugly but does not restrict movement or breathing.
Step 2:
Next, gently pull the sleeve over the affected hind leg. Take care to move slowly and calmly, especially if your dog is tender or sensitive following surgery. Once the leg is fully positioned within the sleeve, secure the hind leg sleeve underneath the abdomen using the adjustable strap. Attach the sleeve strap to the vest by clipping the two components together. Adjust the clip to achieve proper tension the fit should be secure enough to stay in place during normal activity, but not tight enough to cause discomfort or restrict circulation.
Step 3:
After application, carefully check the overall fit of the garment. It should feel snug and supportive while remaining comfortable for your pet. Confirm that all sensitive areas, including surgical incisions or irritated skin, are fully covered and protected. Ensure there is no excessive pressure around joints, the abdomen, or the groin area.
If the leg sleeve extends slightly beyond the desired length at the cuff, it can be gently rolled up to create a more customized and comfortable fit without compromising protection.

Monitoring & Adjustment
Always monitor your pet closely after applying the garment, especially during the first few uses. Some animals may initially freeze, walk stiffly, or appear unsure when wearing a recovery garment. This reaction is normal and typically temporary. Encourage natural movement by offering a favorite treat, toy, or gentle praise to help your pet regain confidence and resume normal activity.
Regularly check the garment throughout the day to ensure it remains properly positioned and clean. Remove the garment periodically, as advised by your veterinarian, to inspect the surgical site and assess healing progress.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your pet’s recovery, healing progress, or the appropriate use of this garment, please consult your veterinarian for professional guidance.
